Hotel Gerébi Mansion and Stables lies in the heart of the Great Hungarian Plain, 70 km south of Budapest in central Hungary. It is one of the most prestigious tourist enterprises of the region, situated at a distance of some 4 km from the M5 highway. The Mansion was built at the end of the 19th century by one of the large landlords of the region, Gyula Öttömösi Gerébi. This prominent landowner, who also acted as a benefactor of the poor, established a stud-farm in the manor that was even recognised internationally. As a certified farm manager he developed the estate into an exemplary farm. After his death the Mansion became neglected, its condition deteriorated, and it could not be used. In 1986 – following a complete renovation – it was reopened as a hotel.

62 double rooms and 3 apartments are available in the three-star Gerébi Mansion Hotel all year round. 23 rooms with bathroom and 3 exclusive apartments are located in the main eclectic building, while in the bungalow section, which will be re-opened after a complete reconstruction in March, 39 rooms with showers await the guests. All the rooms are equipped with television set, minibar and telephone. Hotel rooms in the main building also include air-conditioning. The total capacity of the Mansion’s restaurant, conference rooms and terrace is 800 persons, including 600 in the indoor restaurant that is open all year round. The Öttömösi Restaurant, which pays tribute to the memory of the founding landlord, is a favourite location of individual guests. The Katinka Conference Room, the Nádas Hall, the Margit Hall, the Cserszegi Wine Cellar and the Betyár Horse Inn are highly recommended for small or large groups, companies, family events and weddings, while the elegant terrace attracts all the guests on summer nights. The selectively designed park provides an opportunity for the guests to relax. A 16 x 6 m swimming pool, 2 hard-cover tennis courts, a soccer field, a basketball and a volleyball court ensure an enjoyable time.

The Mansion’s restaurant mainly offers Hungarian flavours. The goulash soup and the stew prepared in cauldron, the spit-roasted or barbecued poultry, pork or for that matter ox satisfy the tastes of even the best connoisseurs. Of course the selection also includes scores of gourmet dishes of international cuisine, including numerous vegetarian dishes.

In the new part of the main building there is a whirlpool bath, a Finnish sauna, an infra-sauna, a solarium, an insulated warm bench and a gym which provide every possibility for recreation. On the lower floor there is a place for playing cards, table soccer, darts and billiards and also a bar. Folk-art lovers may sort through the rich selection of the gift shop.

The Stables offer the guests a variety of riding services. Lunging rein and cross-country rides, riding tours, carriage driving and carriage driving courses are available. A horse carriage trip around the countryside is a pleasant experience for a company of friends. Gerébi Mansion and Stables also offers various complete „puszta” programmes, which usually start with a spectacular Great Plain style horse show, where the cowboys present their horses and compete in horse riding skills. The most spectacular part of the show is the wild galloping of the „Puszta five-in-hand”. This is accompanied by a pleasant carriage ride with the Gerébi Mansion’s park as its final destination. Here, depending on the needs, lunch or dinner and of course tasty wines of the Great Plain await the guests. A special atmosphere is provided throughout the meal by a local gypsy band. A folklore performance including traditional Hungarian and gypsy dances may be added to the programme on request. The wedding offer of the hosts is worth considering. The civil or religious ceremonies held in the park provide a merry atmosphere. The newlyweds have an option to arrive at the Mansion on a horse carriage, and of course all the above mentioned programmes are available to make the ceremony more colourful. Ideal conditions are ensured at the Gerébi Mansion Hotel for the arrangement of conferences, trainings, professional studies, product exhibitions, partner meetings and other business events. The Katinka Conference Room is a computer controlled, air conditioned and detachable conference room equipped with high standard audio and video technology, which is perfect for such purposes. The Margit Hall is located in the new part of the mansion. It is an air-conditioned conference room which can accommodate 50 people. Of course any of the private rooms of the hotel are readily equipped with mobile technological equipment. Many select the Mansion as a location for business and pleasure due to its diverse programmes. Large events exceeding even 1000 guests are held here, as well. The excellent professional staff of the Mansion guarantees, that the programmes are carried out in a smooth fashion.
