Siófok is the birthplace of the famous operetta composer, Imre Kálmán, whose best-known work is the "Csárdáskirálynő"(Czardas Princess). No wonder why this town is accomodating so many cultural events especially in summer time. Kálmán's works are often played here. The international folklore festival, the "Aranykagyló" (Golden Shell) offers a great variety of folk dances and songs to delight people who love all sorts of arts.
The various museums of the town are very interesting too. The museum of shipping and sailing as well as fishing attract most people. The mineral or the wine museums arouse interest too.
We should not forget about the gastronomical delicacies of the Hungarian cuisine which can be tasted in more than 30 restaurants of the town. You can eat goulash or pasta with soft cheese and you can try the grilled perch pike or strudel filled with sour cherry and you will be really pleased with the culinary joy. In addition to the above noone should miss to taste a good Hungarian wine. If you follow the advice above, you will tell us at the end of your stay: "It was worth coming to Hungary!"
